Electrical home safety inspection notes
Electric Closeout is built for commercial commissioning closeout, but the same discipline helps anyone documenting an electrical safety inspection: one entry per panel or circuit group, the same checks on each, and open items that are easy to find.
What to record for each panel or circuit group
- A clear ID, such as Main panel or Garage subpanel.
- Whether terminal torque was verified to the manufacturer's values.
- The insulation-resistance reading in MΩ, where testing is performed.
- Phase rotation, where it applies, and whether labeling is complete.
- A note for anything corrected, with the re-test record attached to that entry.
Who should perform the inspection
Electrical inspections and testing should be done by a qualified electrician or licensed inspector, following the adopted code and the authority having jurisdiction. Electric Closeout records results; it does not tell you whether an installation is safe.
Any system with a failed check stays held, and any missing entry keeps the record incomplete, so nothing is released by accident.
